About Us

Welcome to Ruff Love Dog Hikes! At this time, “we” is really just me, Andrew Matthews.
Nevertheless, we here at Ruff Love will always be passionate about providing safe and enriching hiking experiences for your dogs. We combine exercise, socialization, and exploration to keep your furry family members happy and healthy.
Growing up in Olympia, Washington, I’ve always been surrounded by dogs, fostering a deep love and understanding of them that overflowed into my entrepreneurial aspirations. It’s clear that people care about their dogs in the Pacific Northwest, and it became obvious that there may be a gap in the market that I could happily fill – extending the lives of cherished dogs with a seamless and fully customized service that makes treating your loved ones a breeze.
And as an avid trail runner, I will happily pick up the pace depending on the dog and if they have extra energy to burn! Every dog is different and will receive hikes tailored to their needs and capabilities.
While I don’t have any dogs of my own just yet, I cherish the time I get to spend with my parents’ dogs, Ginger and Abby, who ultimately fueled my passion for these canine adventures after seeing how happy they became before, during, and after long treks in nature. While they’re ~12 years old and have the legs of Basset Hounds, they can still happily complete 60 minute hikes! Ginger, who has always been the more anxious sister especially became more bubbly and goofy after our treks and her desire to eat food grew as well! These positive effects can be seen on their faces all over the site, as many of the photos were taken during or after a hike.
Service Map
Because we have the potential of four hikes a day with an hour before and after each session and up to 4 different dogs to pick-up – we have to be strategic about our time.
That’s why our service map is approximately 15 minutes from each side to prepare for all circumstances.
At this time, with two other jobs and a tight schedule, it has been decided that you must live within the service zone to be qualified for hikes. If you’re right outside, reach out, we may be able to work something out!
